SCS Friends Letter 5th June 2025
Thu, 5 Jun 2025Printable version
Dear Friends of Stroud Choral Society,
Thank you for your continuing suppport of our choir.
We wanted to make sure that you are aware of our upcoming concert.
Our chairman, Tim Brain, has prepared the following information about our concert's pieces:
Stroud Choral Society and Youth Choir will be performing its Summer Concert in St Laurence Church, Stroud, on Saturday 14th June at 7.00 pm.
The concert marks the end of an exciting year for both choirs. The Choral Society’s concerts have included outstanding performances of Vaughan Williams’s Sea Symphony and Handel’s oratorio Samson, while the Youth Choir’s season has included, with The Minpins Children’s Choir, its tenth anniversary concert.
This year’s Summer Concert is a joyous celebration of the season through music which focuses on the endless themes of love and time. The programme includes music by Gloucestershire-born composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, and contemporary popular composers Bob Chilcott, Eric Whitacre and John Rutter, as well as traditional folk songs.
Stroud Choral Society will be conducted by Musical Director Simon Bell and The Youth Choir by Zoë Hynes. Violinist Justine Tomlinson will play violin solos, including the beautiful Ashokan Farewell, as well as accompanying the Choral Society in its performance of Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs.

Click on this link for tickets and more information.
We very much hope to see you there.
Best wishes,
Peggy Grimshaw
